  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and a tablespoon of sugar. Let it sit for 10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, remaining sugar, and salt.
  3. Add melted butter, eggs, and the yeast mixture to the flour. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth. Cover and let it rise for 1 hour.
  5. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Once risen, punch down the dough and roll into small balls.
  7. Flatten each ball, add a spoonful of cottage cheese mixture in the center, and fold the edges slightly over it.
  8. Place on a baking sheet and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add lemon zest to the cottage cheese mixture.
  • Brushing the buns with melted butter right after baking enhances their flavor.
