- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup cottage cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and a tablespoon of sugar. Let it sit for 10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, remaining sugar, and salt.
- Add melted butter, eggs, and the yeast mixture to the flour. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth. Cover and let it rise for 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Once risen, punch down the dough and roll into small balls.
- Flatten each ball, add a spoonful of cottage cheese mixture in the center, and fold the edges slightly over it.
- Place on a baking sheet and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow to cool before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add lemon zest to the cottage cheese mixture.
- Brushing the buns with melted butter right after baking enhances their flavor.
