Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Peel and slice the yams into 1-inch thick rounds.
  3. In a large baking dish, layer the yams and sprinkle with brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  4. Pour water and vanilla extract over the yams.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until caramelized.

Notes

  • For extra sweetness, you can add marshmallows during the last 10 minutes of baking.
  • Let yams sit for a few minutes after baking for easier serving.
