- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1.5 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
- 1.5 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup espresso, brewed and cooled
- 1 cup salted caramel sauce
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the dry ingredients and mix until combined.
- Slowly stir in boiling water and brewed espresso until the batter is smooth.
- Pour the batter into prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes.
- Let the cakes cool for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
- Once cool, layer the cakes with salted caramel sauce between them and on top.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate cocoa powder.
- Let the cake cool completely before adding the caramel for the best results.
