  • 1 package phyllo dough
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 4 strips turkey bacon
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1 egg beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook the turkey bacon until crispy, then remove and drain on paper towels.
  3. In the same skillet, add onion and garlic, cooking until soft.
  4. Add ground turkey and cook until browned. Stir in spices and chicken broth.
  5. Crumble the cooked turkey bacon and mix in.
  6. Layer phyllo dough in a greased baking dish, brushing each layer with olive oil.
  7. Add the turkey mixture, then cover with more phyllo layers, brushing with oil.
  8. Brush the top with the beaten egg.
  9. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until golden brown.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, you can substitute the turkey with lentils.
  • Make sure the phyllo dough is thawed before use.
