- 4 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for strawberries)
- 1 cup heavy cream (for whipped cream)
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- Add cold butter and mix until crumbly.
- Stir in the cream and mix until just combined.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently.
- Roll out and cut into circles.
- Place on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden.
- Mix sliced strawberries with sugar and let sit for 30 minutes.
- Whip cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
- Assemble shortcakes by splitting them in half, adding strawberries, and topping with whipped cream.
Notes
- For best results, use fresh strawberries and serve immediately.
- You can substitute other berries if desired.
